Schedules
Our training
program schedule is a little over 6 months and is broken down in weekly
segments.
Once you become a
member,
we email your weekly training schedule segment directly to
you.
You heard right! Just open your email every Sunday evening and there's
the whole upcoming week!
In each weekly
segment, we provide specific
details, comments or instructions pertinent to the specific training
week.
However,
understanding that we
all have futures we plan for, we also provide you the whole season
schedule so you can incorporate your training into your
calendar.
Wow, the only
thing left would be if we served you breakfast in bed! Hmmm...

Target Races
Marathon
Training Program
For the marathon training program, we offer several target races and
corresponding training schedules to match:
1. California International Marathon
(CIM).
This is our local marathon and recommended for those new to the Sacfit
program or new to training for a marathon in general. This year the
race will be held December
7, 2008. Mark you calendar!
2. Portland Marathon.
This marathon is held earlier in the season. This is a great race for
those who have done the CIM and are looking for a different venue. We
recommend only intermediate runners and walkers target this race as the
schedule will ramp up much sooner than our regular 26-week program.
This year the race will be October
5, 2008.
3. Honolulu Marathon.
Also held in December, but one week after the CIM. A great vacation can
be tied into this race. This year it will be held December 14, 2008.
4. Tucson Marathon.
Also the second week in December.
Half
Marathon Training Program.
There are a number of half marathons that fit into our Fall training
schedule and for many, you can actually do several!
1. Cowtown Half Marathon.
Both our target half marathon and benchmark for the marathon training.
We encourage all our members to train for this half marathon.
Everything about it is a perfect fit for the Fall season. This year it
will be held October
5, 2008.
2. Four Bridges Half Marathon.
Held just 4 weeks later. A perfect race to compare your time against
the Cowtown. This year it will be held October 28, 2008.
3. Clarksburg Half Marathon. The
final regional half marathon of Fall season. This one starts a 10AM so
you can sleep in before the race! This year it will be held November 9, 2008.
BONUS:
Once you complete your goal half marathon, we have a special continuing
training program segment to prepare you for the CIM Relay. Heck, you'll
be in awesome shape anyway. Not to mention the great teammates you have
to choose from! It just makes sense to do the Relay.
Bench
Mark Races.
As part of our training program, we recommend entering races prior to
the goal race as a means to gain practical experience in running or
walking a race. Plus, they're fun! These races also serve as benchmarks
to gauge how well you are coming along with your fitness. Our members
are always surprised to see how well they're doing!
1. July Fourth Fun Run.
Held in River Park near CSUS. A great tradition and the race is free to
enter! July 4, 2008
2. Buffalo Stampede.
Our graduation into our first double digit race - 10 Miles! It's a nice
medium size race with easy parking and proximity (One mile from where
we normally meet). Also, there is a separate start for walkers.
Finally, because our membership is about 20-30% of the entire race,
Sacfit members get a discount! We like to call the Stampede the
unofficial Sacfit 10 mile race. This year the race will be held September 7, 2008.
